Drive-by post... does anyone know if this little fella is a cricket? Makes a cricket sound - high pitched sustained chirp - but I can't find anything that looks quite like him under that name. Found him in our house at the weekend & photographed him as a (silent) curiosity, only to be woken last night by a seriously loud call in the wee small hours. Any guidance on topic or where to find out gratefully received. He doesn't look quite right for the stuff I'm pulling up, and I don't know enough about Nature Stuff to refine properly.

Argh smoky out there. Not sure where it's coming from - most of the fires near us are supposed to be out... keep watchin' the skies eh. Could be from anywhere though :(

Note to self: Kylie Kwong bacon roast adapts well to stovetop slow-cook (1.5-2 hrs) - useful in hot weather. Fresh plum (substitute for dried/fresh sour cherry) actually works better this way than in oven, and the bay leaves are much more aromatic.

Finally have the time to sit down with New BSG properly. Enjoying it tremendously, only two reservations: 1) Pres. Roslin looks like a stoned Sarah Jane Smith, and 2) I keep thinking of Apollo as Bernstein.

Take the High Road character gallery, first season. Just because. I've some old screencaps from the '92-'93 run about 1990 and will add them for comparison. Amazing how many characters were still in it... (1990 caps here)

(edited to fix: Archie dies in the 1990 season, so these must have been from around then or just after - I had about a year's worth on my old tapes but didn't cap them all).

Masterlists: 2012 hopelessly incomplete - 2011 - 2010

I wouldn't bother with last year's at all; there's ten months' worth missing. Ridiculous.
